I absolutely hate the suicidal dominance whores the current ranking system encourages. It just does not make for good or fun play in general.

My proposed modification is a zero-sum ranking system. A player gets a point for each dice stack they defeat either on offense or defense. Likewise, the losing player gets penalized an equal amount. Eliminating players also generates ranking points equal to the total number of dice that player had in the game as a whole. That player and the other remaining players are likewise penalized that amount divided by the number of players. So if you eliminate the 7th players, that person and everyone else gets penalized one sixth of his total dice. If there is a concern this makes swings in the game to wild, the points could be added on an appropriate fractional basis instead of one for each dice.

I agree that the current system is just to marginal. You only win max 50 points or loose max 50 points. With the average of 1500 points, this is just very little. With a new system like this or only a part of this, you maybe have some more outrageous gains. Win a lot, but at the same time loose a lot the next round.
At least give players their rewards for winning, defeating an opponent and territory possession.

Encourage aggressive and decisive playing!

The other problem with your suggestion madarab, is that there is nothing to stop a good player hanging around on low tables and gaining points by beating players not at his standard, something that the current system discourages

It also encourages bad play just to kill someone's last territory. Also, in the end game, what about 8 vs 8, should the smaller player play defense and gain points because statically, he is likely to win more of them?
