sounds like somebody mad about not getting into top 25

i think the incentive for getting your name up there, which applies to about 10000 players, greatly outweighs the incentive for not playing, which applies to 25 players and changes regularly regardless.

I think a better idea was to only display active players on the page.

This has some merit. The problem is, and I am guilty of this even though I've only broken the top 200, that once your account gets high, you are tempted to leave it be and play with another lower account. Perhaps, if the only players and scores on display were recently active, people would be inspired to play with those accounts, and 1900 tables would be more full. This does not remove incentive for breaking into to 25. It does remove incentive for not playing with your over 1900 account after you finally make it into top 25. This will increase attendance in 1900 games. Players will still have high scoring accounts, and don't have to play with them if they don't want to, but they won't be on display. I think this makes good sense.

Oh wait, you already said that. I agree then but am indifferent. I agree because if the top players are inactive then it's generally only going to be people who quit at the peak of an incredibly lucky streak (or cheating such as pre-alliances). Unless we are blessed with the arrival of a kdice prodigies who earn their way passed those inflated scores.

Why not show a current top list, and an "all-time" top list (call it something else if you like) which uses players highest one-time score (for example, if I have a current score of 1500, but at one point had 3000, the "all-time" top list will still show my 3000 score).

That isn't an elegant explanation, but hopefully its understandable.

yeah, you're "cool" for calling those in the contest losers. (Yeah. And I didn't know pheonix had two "n"s)

Besisdes, why does it matter how long that 1300 has been playing? I contest that It doesn't matter what their top rating is. You could still play 1,000 games, and still end up with 1300 as a score, and your highest only being a 1600. Rating really doesn't measure skill, at this point, so, whatever.
