How are dice awarded (newbie question)

It seems that when I take my turn I get 1 or 2 additional dice awarded while other get 4 or more new dice awarded.
What am I doing wrong? |

Isaac, when your turn is over, you get the number of dice that corresponds to the largest number of your _contiguous_ territories (i.e. the number touching each other), and then they're randomly distributed across your territories. So if you want more dice, get your territories to touch.
