Leaderboard appearance

I think that this has been already discussed one or two months ago. However, I think it's worth mentioning again...
At the moment players appear in the PPG section of the leaderboard even if they only played one game (For example a 1st at a 500 level table, see below). This makes the PPG stat less significant, since it does not really show which player has the best PPG. EXAMPLE: At the moment, aliaiactasunt (http://kdice.com/profile/5281451/stats) has the lead in the PPG ranking. He got that lead thanks to a 2nd place (276) at a 500 level table he hasn't played any other games yet and I think people will have a tough time beating those 276 PPG. But does that really tell us that aliaiactasunt is a skilled player who had a high PPG this month? Wishbone on the other side has "already" played 34 games with a PPG of 218. Even though wishbones PPG is lower than aliaiactasunt's, I think everybody agrees that wishbone's PPG is more significant/ tells us more about his PPG skills than aliaiactasunt's. MY SUGGESTION: In order to make the PPG stat more transparent/ significant, there should be a minimum number of games people have to play in order to be able to appear on the PPG Leaderboard. at 2:11 PM, Friday September 19, 2008 EDT Usually you introduce what's called a prior. In this case we'd make it 0.
So the formula would be something like, TotalPoints / (gamesplayed + 10) Someone with one game of +110 points has a +10 PPG and the impact of this dilution reduces as the total games increases. |

play a 2nd game after he started this month with a win at the 2500... les, what a great opportunity wasted to brag an entire month about being top PPG! |

... Can't you just tell him to fix the PPG stat? |

I tend to agree that 1 500 game with high ppg, shouldn't be valued as high as multiple games with high points. This is why there are usually minimum games played factors, which prevent players from playing one game, winning and being on top of the domination board. Although, with 36 games I have a 46% domination, but I do not lead that column. Most likely because of the minimum number of games limit. :) thanks for the shout out moon |
