Dominance... is it working?
Dear All,

Once upon a time, a long, long, time ago there was no such thing as dominance [I know most of you know this but for the benefit of Mr. Kite]. Points were based only on place.

Dominiance is based on the avaerage number of lands you have. [Does anyone have a reference?]

I've noticed that if I get lots of lands early and then never attack again my dom stays high. Even if I have several "islands".

If the dom points are for "agression" then fine.

But if the Dom points are for "Dominance" then they should they be changed to something that shows a skill level? e.g.
1: the average number of connected lands
2: A combo of 1 and teh current dom.

The goal of the game is to have the most lands... this is how place is determined. So dominance follows this and rewards for the most lands over time regardless of their connection. This is the most basic aspect of the game: to get more land.

On top of this basic aspect you have tools to get and protect land through the game rules and dice. Having connected land is a game rule, not a game goal, that lets you get more dice to protect and get more land.

I think if dominance rewarded for connected lands you could make an argument for rewarding for # of dice. However, I think its important to keep a single clear and consistent game goal.
