It wouldn't be a problem if you could make everyone else flag, but you obviously couldn't.

Flagging is meant as an end game request... until the game does end you should be able to attack.

The flag is by no means a submission...it is only a means to a quicker end. With over 200 games played, I would think you would know this John.

Fiji,

That would be fine, except players flag and then they chat, "I'm flagged". Basically, "leave me alone". Then they wait and decide to attack, maybe when the tide has turned. Anyone who flags should not get upset when they are attacked.

John, you're confusing the away button with the flag. When I flag, I always say "I'm flagged", but as people have said, it only means I'm willing to let the game end there.

If others don't want it to end, I'll keep on fighting. If I was ready to walk away from the table and forget this game, I'd flag and hit sit out.

People who flag are saying "I want the game to end soon... I give up". However, that does not make them immune from attack. They can also attack, if they want.

To me, ALL flagging means is "If everyone else flags, the game ends". It does NOT mean "I will sit passively in a corner, no matter what else happens." If that's what I want, I will Sit Out, or I will explicitly state "I'm just sitting in my corner", so people know what to expect. Sitting out isn't so effective (at least until the flag comes up), because some folks sit out just in order to speed things up, then sit in after 2 turns again (so they don't lose reinforcements).

In particular, it's OK to unflag and attack (or just attack) if someone else is holding up the endgame process. If there are 4 players who could flag, and a leader, and 3 of the trailers flag, it's perfectly OK to attack the guy who isn't flagging. This is especially true if he's fighting a completely lost cause.

I will say, though, that about 98% of the times I flag, I stay flagged. If someone makes a practice of flagging and unflagging, maybe they are just manipulating the others. That's why it is perfectly OK to attack someone who is flagged.. all they are saying is that they aren't participating. It does not earn you an automatic truce to put up your flag, although a lot of people seem to want to treat it that way.

Its perfectly fine to flag and attack people lower than u, it helps end the game faster. But flagging and attacking someone higher than u is pretty despicable.
